From the outset, we have experienced a warm, open and transparent working relationship without any pressure on us to do anything we felt uncomfortable with or hurried timescales. We have been encouraged to move at our own pace and use Kefalonia New Homes to do as much or as little as we wanted.

Throughout the whole process, we have been kept fully informed of our options and all the regulations which apply when building, starting with their support and assistance to purchase our land, gaining our building permit, working with the civil engineer to design our future home and at present, have just completed building phase 1, the lower section of our house. 
 

We have been able to track all building activity via informative emails from Chris & Rozalia, as well as from a rapidly growing library of pictures placed on a Picasa Web site, which let's us see work in progress on a regular basis. Through regular contact with Chris, we have been able to discuss relevant matters and have information and estimate pricing to enable us to decide what we can afford to have done at that time. This process has left us feeling that we are in control of the building work from our remote position in the UK and this has given us reassurance that everything is going as planned.
 
On a final note, we have complete faith in the integrity and competence of Kefalonia New Homes and would give them our unsolicited and unreserved trust and confidence in delivering our project to very high satisfactory standards. We have also been to see a number of other properties they have built or are in the process of completing, and there is ample evidence to justify our comments. The attention to detail and quality is excellent and we would advise anyone considering a build to talk to Chris and Rozalia and be assured of the quality of their service.

We had travelled extensively over the years, and always in the back of our mind was "could we retire here?" We were looking for something different than the Costa's with a Caribean-type climate. Originally we chose Kefalonia for its sheer beauty and weather, clean air and open spaces, guaranteed hot summers and mild winters, its people, traditions and way of life made us want to stay. Compared with other destinations the Paliki peninsular of Kefalonia still offers very good value for money with a 500sq m. plot starting from 30,000 euros.

Within 24 hours of viewing one of Kefalonia New Homes's many plots we put in an offer on one that met our strict criteria; Flat with views, 500sq m and within 10 min of amenities. The complicated purchase process was made simple by the English speaking family company. We bought land which lies at the foot of a small hillside village with no shops just a church. It is flat with panoramic views over farmland and the bay looking out towards Zante. Just 5 minutes away is the peninsula's main town Lixouri with its shops, restaurants, pavement cafes and square.From our elevated position we can see the town and the ferry which connect Lixouri to the capital Argostoli, just a 20 min ride away. The summer events programme in Lixouri ranges from traditional theatre and dance in the square to concerts, and in winter Carnival week, so there is never a dull moment.

We chose a 2 bedroom timber-framed single story property. Our actual housebuild was surprisingly stress-free, we left it to the professionals! Their expertise in tailor-made designs and experience in building meant we were able to enjoy watching our home being built from foundations to being handed the key. Upon completion there were no hidden extras as we had been consulted each step of the way. The price they quoted was the price we paid.
